Dr. Liolios is an educator with over twenty-five years of work in educational leadership, elementary education, behavioral consultation, and school psychology. His areas of interest include special education, multi-tiered systems of supports, early childhood, behavior management, crisis intervention, education law, and human resource management. He holds degrees from the University of California, the University of Wisconsin, and Argosy University. Dr. Liolios was awarded the prestigious Laura Ganoung Award for significant contributions to the field of special education.
Dr. Liolios has been a requested trainer in several Arizona school districts. Topics covered have included childhood psychopathology, multi-tiered systems of supports, student discipline, crisis intervention and special education law. Dr. Liolios has been invited to present at Arizona state-level conferences. Training topics have included employee supervision, staff evaluation, academic achievement, parent involvement, and access to community resources.
Dr. Liolios has provided a wide-range of services and supports to both district and school administration in Arizona. Support has been multi-tiered and individualized to the client. District-level consultative services have focused on special education law, student services policies, and compliance with special education and Section 504 requirements. Mentoring support to new special education directors has covered a multitude of topics including budgeting, grants management, conflict resolution and education law.
This past year has seen several opportunities for mentoring, consultation, training, and auditing. Dr. Liolios has multiple client districts for whom he provides professional development, mentoring and programmatic review services.
Dr. Liolios is delighted with the runaway success of the Special Education Directors Academy. This past year's Academy had 65 new and aspiring Director participants from throughout the state of Arizona. The Academy, which he co-runs with three colleagues, continues to provide much-needed support and professional development to special education administrators.
